What Does It Mean to Implement an Evidence Based Program? |
There is a misconception about what implementation really means. In the mind of a model developer, implementation means “replication”. To the service deliverer, implementation means “adoption”. But successful “adoption” or “replication” must insure that the EBP must also be “sustainable” over time.
The components of the organizational implementation plan are, in a nutshell: 1) Theoretical Understanding of the Model: programmatic congruency 2) Aligning the “FIT” between the evidence based program and the target client population: 3) Adequate staffing: education and experience; team size and roles; caseload size; culturalcompetency 4) Staff Certification Training 5) Fidelity and Adherence Monitoring/Supervision following certification 6) Proper Management of the Referral and Intake processes 7) Sustainability: data-driven monitoring and decision-making; support system for therapists; contracting w/ therapists; training in-house certified BSFT supervisors; videotaping; assuring continuous funding streams For specific details on implementation, please visit the Implementation Protocols tab.
